Soil moisture sensor
Soil moisture sensor
The Teneo soil‑moisture sensor is a battery‑powered LoRaWAN sensor for measuring and monitoring the moisture level of young trees and/or plants. Thanks to its waterproof housing and flexible cable, the measuring probe can be placed at any desired spot in the soil, for example near the roots, and can be buried inconspicuously to deter theft.
Numbers say the most
Users report that losses of newly planted trees, normally 5–10 % in the first year without sensors, have been reduced to less than 1% by using this sensor. If required, the cable length can be extended (at an extra charge) so measurements can be taken in hard‑to‑reach places such as sports fields. In addition to soil moisture the sensor also measures soil temperature, enabling a reliable estimate of the evaporation rate of the soil. With its rechargeable battery there is no need to replace batteries and the sensor can remain in the field for several years.
If desired, the soil moisture sensor’s cable length can be extended (for an additional fee), allowing measurements to be taken in hard-to-reach places, such as sports fields.
In addition to soil moisture, the soil moisture sensor also measures soil temperature, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the evaporation rate of moisture in the soil.
Because the soil moisture sensor’s battery is rechargeable, there’s no hassle of changing batteries, and the sensor can be used in the field for several years!
